4 Stars Great if you’re in a good location
I’m lucky to be in an area that’s within 8 miles of all 3 major stations broadcasting OTA HDTV. Once you find the right position, it’s amazing. Dolby Digital 5.1 and 1080i is fantastic. Two sports that benefit greatly from HDTV are Golf and Hockey. It’s really sweet watching them in HDTV, it’s a whole new spectator experience.

If you’re having trouble finding the sweet spot, move in smaller increments. In the right position I get all free HDTV stations crystal clear, but if I move the antenna a quarter inch, I lose half. Digital is much more sensitive to position. Also, you DO NEED to extend the telescopic antennae as well. For $30, this can’t be beat. I actually cancelled Cable. Between free OTA HD and my Bluray PS3, who needs to spend $100 a month on cable.

PS: LOST looked fabulous in HD, can’t wait till next season.

This Terk HDTVi Indoor Antenna For HDTV is Perfect. I was tired of paying cable prices for local channels. So thought I would give this antenna a try. It pulls in every single HDTV local channel in Phoenix, AZ that is currently available!!! It’s awesome!

Oh and this, you may find hard to believe, but it is very TRUE! The picture with this antenna is even *****better***** than what I had with Cox Cable on my Toshiba 73 inch HDTV 1080P!!!

I live in Chandler, AZ. I’m very happy with this product. If you’re in Phoenix, AZ; I would certainly give this antenna a try, it’s worth every single penny!!!

1 Star An indoor antenna without amplification isn’t worth the money you spend on it!

2 Stars Is HDTV antenna worth the money?
I have bought a HDTV recently. I thought if I had a digital HDTV antenna, I could pull in more digital channels. I was disappointed to find that the Terk HDTV indoor antenna failed to do so. In fact, the old Radio Shack enhanced indoor antenna gave me better reception.

1 Star Worthless
I live five miles from Sears Tower, in Chicago. I get 16 over the air channels in analog all of them watchable. Channels 7, 9, and 26 as well as low power channels 23 and 48 come in as good as cable TV.

Now with DTV and various antennas all I can get is THREE stations, 7, 9 and 32. And 7 and 9 are all pixleated.

So it seems 16 watchable channels have been reduced to 1 watchable DTV channel. So much for progress, but I guess it’s much more important for rich people to be able to have yet MORE cell phones (that’s what the TV signals will be used for) than let poor people have TV.

I guess I’m gonna have to come up with money for cable.

DTV is NOT a good thing for us urban poor.

Terk Technology TV-5 Low Profile Indoor Antenna - You might think an indoor TV antenna is as outdated and useless as the 8-track tape, but think about it for a minute. If you have satellite TV you know the joys of having your service knocked out during a storm, cable TV sometimes goes out of whack as well, & some people simply do not want $50 a month in television channels. All are great reasons to pick up an indoor antenna like the Terk TV-5. This specific antenna has a great low profile design which stands just 4 3/4″ high and fits inside most television cabinets. In addition to that, the built-in video selector is a great convenience - letting you switch between broadcast TV & a video source (ie: DVD, VCR or video game).

4 Stars Works for me!
Item came and when it was all set up was WAY larger than I had anticipated. Works well and defiantely does the trick. The only problem was trying to find a spot for it. My roommate went out and bought one too when she saw that mine worked. The success of this product is defined by the area you live in and the signals available- I live in NYC so it is great!

1 Star Not as advertised
This product is one of the worst I have ever purchased. It sounded so good with many features. What I found was that there was no difference in the received signal was the same no matter what mode the unit was placed in. The gain control video switch had no affect on the received signal. It does have noticeable directivity. it was very disappointing as the unit looks well constructed.

4 Stars Good antenna for the price
I purchased this antenna in early 2007. As of today (8-8-08), I’m able to pick up at least 19 digital US channels and 2 digital Mexican channels on my Polaroid 32″ HDTV (I live 8 miles away from the border). CBS and NBC have strong signals, while with ABC, I have to move the antenna around a bit to find the best spot. Moving the antenna means I have to readjust it for the Mexican digital channels. The NBC signal is strong as sometimes I can watch their 2 digital channels with no antenna. Regular rabbit ears are useless for digital channels where I live. I don’t know why the government sponsored DTV commercials say: “All you need is the same antenna you are using to watch over-the-air channels”. I haven’t tried any other antenna to get ABC, but I recently purchased a rooftop antenna for my second TV.

2 Stars Looks Good on Top of the TV
Based on the glowing reviews I read about this product I guess I was expecting too much. After trying the antenna in several locations around the room, I went back to my old rabbit ears (markedly better reception than the Terk — even for local HD stations) and then moved the Terk to a another set in the house. Even there it made very little difference from what I was getting with a $10 set of ears from Wal-Mart. Decided to keep the Terk, however, since I expect to eventually move and hope it will work better in a new local not surrounded by trees.

5 Stars A Great Indoor Antenna
I had tried to use my old antenna, but it would not pick up many TV digital stations. The Terk TV5 is very effective in receiving the new digital signals.

All I can say is that this antenna works very good. I am form Paraguay, and I use it with muy laptop. I can see all airs channels.

2 Stars Doesn’t work very well
I have tried this antenna many times camping. I have tried it in Vermont, the Lake George area of New York, and Connecticut. It never pulled in more than 2-3 stations, and they were always full of snow. None of the stations ever came in even decent.

The only reason I give this antenna 2 stars is because without it reception was even worse. But it is still pretty worthless in my opinion.

I will try this antenna again once I get a Digital Converter. Maybe that will make a difference.

Seems to work fine. Increased my free off the air channels from 1 to 6. The antenna is sensitive and the picture is clear. Recommended!

5 Stars No contest
After trying several more complicated, more expensive antennas with my DTV box, this product produced the best picture and, relatively speaking, occupied less space and did not need to be plugged in. It is no substitute for cable or satellite, but works beautifully with the new boxes. We now receive more channels than before and my wife, something of a PBS addict, is absolutely delighted with the fact that we get 4 PBS channels. We returned two more expensive Terk and an RCA model.

4 Stars Surprisingly Good
As others have mentioned, this antenna is surprisingly good. Unpacked it and hooked it up. Received 40 local channels on my HDTV tuner (I AM, admittedly, very close to the local transmitter). As effective as the antenna is, I didn’t like the idea of its shiny big antennae sitting out next to my nice new monitor. So, I went down to the shop and bought a “high tech” HDTV low profile GE amplified antenna. Got it home, hooked it up and got…HALF THE CHANNELS I GOT WITH THE TERK ANTENNA! The channels I got kept fading in and out. I’m returning the “high tech” antenna tomorrow and keeping my Terk rabbit ears.

2 Stars ok for the price
while this works as well as any other type of antennae, please be aware the UHF part is stationary…and the VHF “wands” ONLY move up and down from side to side - NOT front and back as you would think it would. i learned my lesson as one antenna broke off right at the base as i tried to get it to do what it wasn’t intended to do i.e. move forward. it is an ok product for that OTHER TV you have in the den or guest bedroom… (this may all be moot anyway come Feb 2009 with the new law taking effect)
