5 Stars Great HDTV at a reasonable price
This TV was a replacement for my 8-year-old Hitachi UltraVision 52″ rear projection. I am very happy with the Hitachi brand and have come to trust it. While the look of a plasma screen may be slightly smoother, for the difference in price (rear projection LCD is less than half the price of plasma), the Hitachi LCD rear projection performs superbly. I am very satisfied with this purchase and highly recommend the Hitachi UltraVision 62VS69 to anyone looking for a great Hi-Def TV.

Pros: Big picture, bright and clear. Reasonably priced.

Cons: LCD projection grid can be noticable against light colored backgrounds.

I am now on my third order of this model, the first two were delivered with shattered screens, now on the third delivery the TV body is damaged. I can understand that sometimes a product comes from the manufacturer damaged - but three times in a row. Not only that it has been more than a month of trying to get this TV and Amazon can’t or want offer any discounts for the trouble I have been through.

I HAD TO DECIDED BETWEEN A FLAT SCREEN PANASONIC OR THE HITACHI. HITACHI IS THE ONLY MAKER OF AN HDTV NON FLAT SCREEN. I DECEIDED TO GO WITH THE HITACHI BECAUSE IT WEIGHS ONLY 105LBS VS. THE HEFTY 165LBS PAN.(32HDX42) FITS NICELY IN MY ENTERTAINMENT FURNITURE WHICH WAS DESIGNED FOR A 27″ TV AND BECAUSE I HAVE A 27″ HITACHI TV/MONITOR(WEIGHS THE SAME AS MY NEW 32″ HITACHI) FOR 12 YEARS STILL OPERATES THE SAME AS THE FIRST DAY I BOUGHT IT. I CAN’T FIGURE OUT HOW TO USE THE PIP -CAN’T CHANGE THE CHANNEL?

5 Stars Excellent TV for an Excellent Price
After a minor windfall I finally decided that my 10 year old 27″ JVC just wasn’t cutting it anymore. After much searching and debating, I decided on the Hitachi 32UDX10S, and I couldn’t be happier.

Admittedly, it was a tough decision. Spending $ on a television is something I’ve never done before, and I didn’t take the task lightly. It came down to flat-screen non-HDTV vs. regular screen HDTV. After debating the issue back and forth, I decided to go with the HDTV, mainly because of where I think the state of television is heading … to HDTV only. That, and I realized that I reallyl don’t need the flat screen.

The Hitachi was a bit difficult to set up. Running a coaxial cable into the ANT-A jack in the back is a PITA, because the threaded jack is in a “corner,” surrounded on the top and side by about 1/2″ edging. This makes getting one’s fingers in there to screw on the coaxial cable very very difficult. Aside from this, however, setup was a breeze.

The picture on this TV is simply incredible. I can’t even begin to describe the clarity, even from a standard coaxial connection. Viewing cable through the s-video connection is even better, and the component inputs for DVD bring out an amazingly clear picture.

I have two quick, minor gripes. First, when going through the component input, you can choose between the standard 4:3 aspect, or a widescreen 16:9 aspect. I always choose 16:9, but once the TV or DVD player are turned off, the set automatically reverts back to the standard 4:3. Second, although there is a front panel lock-out option, it doesn’t lock out the power button. My one year old daughter is very intrigued by this button, which means I’m constantly turning the TV back on!

I would highly recommend this set for anyone looking for a new TV… The lack of a flat screen is nothing, especially when compared with the HDTV-readiness of the unit. The picture’s great; the sound is good. It’s as good as any Sony I’ve seen, and a comparable Sony… Save yourself the $ and get this TV and a progressive scan DVD player and you’ll be a happy camper.

3 Stars Hitachi 32UDX10SA
Overall, I’m fairly happy, but two major flaws:

1) Only one HD input - don’t know what I’m going to do when I get a tuner.

2) TV is incredibly sensitive to magenetic fields. First TV has discoloration problems due to subwoofer 6 feet away through the wall in the next room. I should point out that the speaker is much closer to a Toshiba unit that exhibits no interference. The Hitachi sits where a Sony previously sat without issue. I have a theory that HD-monitors are more sensitive, but this is ridiculous. Even worse, the mask on the first unit I bought was magnetized. I had it professionally degaussed (the internal seemed to be insufficient or broken), but that didn’t last 4 hours. I had to return the unit for a new one and still be careful to keep any unshielded speakers at least 10 feet away! I also suggest you minimize movement due to earth’s magnetic field.

All-in-all, a great picture for the price. The weight is manageable (perhaps Hitachi skimped on shielding), which was a key factor for me. I love the aspect ratio button for anamorphic DVDs.

4 Stars Amazing picture, but…
I purchased this set a little over a year ago because I was amazed with the picture while comparing it to other sets next to it. The colors can be adjusted with the different theater settings, and I love how you can set it so that while switching channels some don’t come in louder than others. I’ve had friends and family over for football games and to watch movies and have received many complememts on the picture.

My one problem is with something that someone else also noted. In the lower left corner of my television, the color began to look faded. I’m happy I purchased an extended warranty through Circuit City. A local technician came over to fix it a few days later, but the fading looks worse, and I will have to call them again. My speakers are pushed all the way against each wall, about 5 feet away from the TV. I REALLY don’t want to replace this set with another because I love the picture I get from it, but the faded color in the corner bothers me, especially after paying so much for a TV. One other minor complaint is that I sometimes hear a high-pitched noise coming from the back of the set. That also bothers me.

I don’t have a progressive scan DVD player yet, but I will probably be upgrading that and my receiver within the next year. I love the picture on this TV, but there have been a few small problems with it.

I looked and looked for a new TV. Read every review I could find. After purchasing a 51″ projection set from Hitachi, I was impressed with the picture and quality of their sets. The 32″ was one of the few of that size that would fit into my cabinet. Although, initially, I wanted a flat-screen, I decided to go with the Hitachi. This is a great TV! Picture quality is stunning. Watching DVDs from my progressive scan player is an awesome experience. I have heard some negative reviews regarding sound quality, but have yet to experiance ANY problems in that area. Instead, the sound has been great. Not as good as my surround set-up in the den, but exceptional for a TV. So far, I am exceptionally happy with my decision and purchase. Hitachi makes great TVs!

4 Stars Happy Purchaser
First, contrary to what another reviewer has said, this is a full 1080p set. This is our first flat panel television and we are happy with it so far (but have only had it two days). Set up was easy. The picure is great (and we have looked at 1080p Blue Ray picture on the set using Playstion). Reflection is not bad at all. Very well designed remote, except that it has no lighting and no glow. This set is in our bedroom, and the power swivel was just what we needed so we can see the set from the sitting area or from bed. A word about the “white glove” shipping. This left something to be desired. There is no tracking info available. Amazon was telling me to expect delivery by 11 January but it showed up without a call or anything on January 5th. Lucky we were home. The delivery men at first balked at bringing the set up to our second floor, though they eventually did it. Still — a lot less hassle than trying to bring a behemoth like this home from a store myself!

This is my first High-Definition TV and I’m glad I bought it. The picture is beautiful and I didn’t upgrade my satellite box yet. I could only imagine what the picture will be like when I do. The sound is great too. The power swivel is cool and easy to install. I highly recommend this plasma to everyone!!

5 Stars Outstanding… (well for the price at least)
I got this TV a couple of months ago, but didn ‘t want to write the review before I make a truly run on it. I am watching it on daily base of course, and I am amazed. Sure… if you go to retail stores and look at a Samsung or a Sonny you will find that the image quality is better, but have a look at the price tags… You will see what I mean. For the $1500 this was far the best choice and I don ‘t regret it.

You can get a samsung or a sony or a panasonic for the same amount at 1080p but it will be 42″. To truly see the image difference at 1080p you really need the above 42″. There are some features that amaze me:

1. Swiveling base, controlled by the remote!!!

2. Different settings for different time of the day!!! Superb! I have a lot of light in the afternoon and very little in the morning. That feature makes the brightness adjustment a button away!

3. 3 HDMI’s and 3 Component. Too many, but I am glad!

4. Excellent sound quality. From the TV or by using the optical audio out.

5. Connector to popcorn machine to pop corn right when the movie starts… Nah… Just kidding. I do however connect it to my laptop for gaming, and the color quality is unbelievable.

One little bug a few reviews noticed, is the speakers, that can be used as central speakers in a 5.1 surround, but there is a delay which is annoying. There is an option to change the timing but it only goes forward. But it is a minor minor bug…
